The Ready 230T is a 64 bit laptop and can natively run any 64 bit operating system.
The 64 bit CPU can also run a 32 bit x86 operating system using built in hardware emulation.
The human interface hardware uses the driver for the Darfon mouse.

Some original operating systems are old, like really old! Windows® XP was originally released on October 25 2001, making it very close to 25 years old. So in some cases an OEM beta recovery disk from NEC® could originally of been published over 25 years ago. This date would obviously depend on the manufacturing date of the Ready 230T laptop, but in most cases it will be years out of date and will contain old drivers and a very old edition of the operating system. To overcome this we also supply, with every order, an agile driver recovery disk, which will carry out a live scan and replace and update any old drivers.
Although we do not support Windows® 95 or 98, here is a list of when each OS was released. Windows® 95 August 24, 1995, Windows® 98 June 25, 1998, Windows® XP October 25, 2001, Windows® Vista January 30, 2007, Windows® 7 October 22, 2009, Windows® 8 October 26, 2012, Windows® 8.1 October 17, 2013, Windows® 10 July 29, 2015 and Windows 11 was announced by Microsoft on June 24, 2021.
Remember that a valid product key (found on the Ready 230T COA ) is required to use the system recovery service. If you have the Windows® 10 8.1 or Windows® 8 operating system and you do not see a COA then your product key will be embedded in the Ready 230T BIOS. NEC® Ready 230T Laptop (US) Windows® 10 Recovery Software
The NEC Ready 230T Windows® 10 recovery software is available on a DVD disk set, USB or download ISO image and is designed for use specifically with the NEC Ready 230T.
If NEC® originally supplied your laptop with Windows® 10, or if you upgraded it from or Windows® 8.1 or 8, then this software will use your built in product key to automatically reinstall or repair your system. If you have upgraded from Windows® 7 or your product key is not built in you can select the edition for repair or reinstall from a drop down menu during the repair or reinstall process. Once your NEC Ready 230T Windows® 10 operating system is repaired or reinstalled the drivers and associated software are all restored using the NEC Ready 230T driver resource software. Once repaired or reinstalled Windows® 10 will then automatically connect to the Microsoft® activation servers and activate.
All the following editions of Windows® 10 are included with the recovery software and on the list below.

After installing a new Windows® operating system, some devices like the video, sound or maybe the wireless network will not work correctly. This is because the Ready 230T Windows® operating system will set the computer up with with generic drivers that are designed only to operate at a very basic level. Some form of device driver is required for the hardware to operate in any way. Windows® default drivers are designed so that the basic start-up requirements are met, such as being able to see some sort of display. Many driver softwares or resource softwares, as they are sometimes called, are normally just full of compressed, out of date and hard to install driver files. This driver software will supply you with all the very latest Ready 230T drivers as the driver software update system will then also go on-line, update, replace and remove any old or broken device drivers.
