The Original IBM ThinkPad R31 Operating System Was Microsoft Windows XP Professional
The IBM ThinkPad R31 laptop was originally supplied from the IBM factory with the following specifications and software. The ThinkPad R31 CPU is the Intel Pentium III-M 1 GHz running at a clock speed of 1 GHz. The laptop was supplied with a standard 128 MB of SDRAM memory. Graphics was originally an AGP Intel Extreme Graphics The video card runs at XGA. The motherboard was designed around the Intel 830MG chipset running at 133 MHz. Storage was on a standard 20 GB drive with networking running on the 10/100 Ethernet device. The original system was also supplied with Access ThinkPad III, Drivers & Utilities, IBM Update Connector, InterVideo WinDVD, Norton AntiVirus 2002, PC Doctor, ThinkPad Assistant, ThinkPad Utilities, ThinkVantage Access Connections (Some additional software is not included).

The actual age of an original OEM disk will depend on the manufacturing date of your computer, but in most cases it will be between 2 and 5 years out of date. As many updates and releases take place in those time periods the original OEM disks will contain a very old edition of the operating system and out of date drivers.

The IBM ThinkPad R31 Windows® 10 recovery software is available on a DVD disk set, USB or download ISO image and is designed for use specifically with the IBM ThinkPad R31.
If IBM® originally supplied your laptop with Windows® 10, or if you upgraded it from or Windows® 8.1 or 8, then this software will use your built in product key to automatically reinstall or repair your system. If you have upgraded from Windows® 7 or your product key is not built in you can select the edition for repair or reinstall from a drop down menu during the repair or reinstall process.
