The Athena is a 64 bit laptop and can natively run any 64 bit operating system.
The 64 bit CPU can also run a 32 bit x86 operating system using built in hardware emulation.
The Athena network device driver can use the Realtek RTL 8139 8139C 8139C hardware.

Hitachi® Athena Laptop (US) Windows® 10 Recovery Software
The Hitachi Athena Windows® 10 recovery software is available on a DVD disk set, USB or download ISO image and is designed for use specifically with the Hitachi Athena.
If Hitachi® originally supplied your laptop with Windows® 10, or if you upgraded it from or Windows® 8.1 or 8, then this software will use your built in product key to automatically reinstall or repair your system. If you have upgraded from Windows® 7 or your product key is not built in you can select the edition for repair or reinstall from a drop down menu during the repair or reinstall process. Once your Hitachi Athena Windows® 10 operating system is repaired or reinstalled the drivers and associated software are all restored using the Hitachi Athena driver resource software. Once repaired or reinstalled Windows® 10 will then automatically connect to the Microsoft® activation servers and activate.
